Abstract
This Essay is to analyse the relation between cultural economics andrhetoric, focusing on Klamer’s and McCloskey’s conception. Klamer started atthe difference between culture and economy that was related to valuejudgement. But he expanded the meaning of culture in accepting theMcCloskey’s rhetoric. As a result he was confronted with the situation wheretwo meanings of culture conflicted each other, and made an error opposite ofhis object of criticism. He did not accept the harmony of science and rhetoricfrom McCloskey and accepted differently the meaning of rhetoric. In hiscultural economics, rhetoric thereby resulted in exposing the political andideological conflicts rather than constructing a new alternative theory.
